Notes

Very good intensity of flavour and aromatics this year, due to great fertility in the vineyards and late summer rains. Grapes were harvested in the early morning from vineyards in the Wairau and Awatere Valleys. Lightly pressed, the juice was fermented cool, predominately in stainless steel to maximise fruit purity and distinctive varietal character. A small portion was fermented in concrete egg tank and clay amphora to add a grainy texture to the palate. The wine was then aged on light yeast lees for three months to gain complexity and increase mouthfeel.

Tasting Notes

This energetic sauvignon blanc has explosive aromatics of paw paw, Kaffir lime, capsicum, and stone fruit that mingle with subtle notes of coconut and dill. Dry and reminiscent of highball gin and tonic, persistent flavours of blackcurrant, banana passionfruit, cucumber, and green olive are revealed alongside bright, mouth-watering acidity. The distinctive palate has an elegant structure and a bright, pure finish.
